Where can you get domain names for free?

I need free domain names. Help!!

  1. Never!!! You can get a place to put your site for free. BUT the domain?? You must pay
  2. You can't, but they're hardly expensive. Free domain names these days are generally only available through web hosting plans, so you're still paying for something and they'll generally take part of what you pay them to pay for the domain name.

  5. The thing with free domain names is that they don't really exist. A domain name is something that someone has to pay for no matter what. If it's not you, then someone else would have to pay for it. In order to provide a service where you just "sign up" for an account and get a domain name and you get to keep it forever, a company would have to invest millions. Eventually, their debt would grow to the billions because you know people will get greedy and ask for more domains, even if they're not using them. Most people who ask for free domains are teenagers. The problem with this is that most teenagers are uncomfortable giving out their personal information. Normally, when you buy a domain name, you have to fill out your personal information and you can bet that if there was a site that gives out free domain names that they would ask for your personal information. And yeah, most people would probably type in fake information, which could cause liability issues for the company. Domains are not meant for teenagers. Period.
